Champions League anthem in Lublin. Great Piątkowski helped Salzburg win
Lublin became the fifth city in Poland (after Warsaw, Łódź, Kraków and Sosnowiec) where the Champions League anthem was played. This time, however, it was not because of a Polish club, but of the Ukrainian Dynamo Kiev, which plays its European Cup matches in this city and faces the Austrian Red Bull Salzburg in the last phase of the Champions League qualifiers. Football players However, Oleksandr Shovkovskyi failed to take a step towards the league stage. On the contrary, they lost easily 0:2.
In the colours of the Austrian vice-champions, Polish defender Kamil Piątkowski had a great game. It was he who started the goal action for 0:1 with a good pass, which was finished off in a one-on-one situation by Dorgeles Nene in the 29th minute.
In addition, the 24-year-old was a very reliable point in Salzburg's defense, as evidenced by his excellent intervention in Władysław Wanat's action. At that moment, it was already 2-0 for the guests, after Maurits Kjaergaard converted a penalty in the 50th minute.
Great match in Bern. Exchange of blows, Galatasaray against the wall
The fans in Bern watched a great spectacle between Young Boys and Galatasaray Istanbul. What's more, it ended with a surprising victory of the hosts 3:2.
The first half of the match was a dream come true for Łukasz Łakomy's team (outside the squad), as they were leading 2:0 after Joao Monteiro's double. Already in the 3rd minute, the Swiss scored a one-on-one with Fernando Muslera, and then in the added time of the first half, he surprised the Uruguayan with a spectacular aerial shot. Muslera, who did not come out for the second half, could have done much better with both goals.
Monteiro was outshone after the break by the visiting super-sub Michy Batshuayi. The first foreign player to play for all the major clubs in Istanbul – Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray – entered the pitch in the 66th minute, and with his first touch of the ball he finished off a set piece and scored a goal, and then equalised in the 72nd minute.
The hosts had the final say, though. In the 85th minute, Filip Ugrinic scored the winning goal for Young Boys from a penalty kick awarded for handball by Abdulkerim Bardakci (second yellow and red card).
Adam Buksa's club missed the chance. The Czechs can rejoice again
The Champions League may not feature a team from Denmark this time. The national champion FC Midtjylland, with Adam Buksa in the starting eleven (the Pole played 75 minutes), only managed a 1-1 draw at home with Slovakian Slovan Bratislava.
Both goals were scored in the second half – the visitors scored first, when Cesar Blackman scored in the 59th minute after a beautiful one-two with Tigran Barseghyan. However, 20 minutes later, substitute Edward Chilufya equalized, just a few minutes after being replaced on the pitch. Buxus.
Jens Stryger Larsen's bizarre own goal in the 31st minute marked the rivalry between Swedish Malmoe and Czech Sparta Prague. And with Matej Rynes scoring 0:2 in the final moments with a long-range shot, the Czechs can once again be virtually certain of having a team in the Champions League.
