Two young men caught the attention of policemen patrolling the streets of Piaseczna. The 23- and 24-year-old drove with electric scooters under the influence of alcohol. One of them additionally transported the passenger. They finished the ride with fines, they had to return on foot.

The attention of policemen from Piaseczno was caught by the way two men move on electric scooters, riding the street on batteries. He aroused suspicions that they could be intoxicated.

The assumptions turned out to be right, and the breathalyzer test only confirmed this. “The 24-year-old in the breath had more than half a per mil of alcohol, and in addition-contrary to the regulations-he transported his friend on the scooter. The 23-year-old traveled alone, but he was also under the influence of alcohol. He had over 0.3 per mille”-she told the horseshoes. Both men were punished with penalty fines of PLN 2,500 and PLN 1,500. The 24-year-old additionally received a penalty fine of PLN 300 for transporting the passenger. Ukrainian citizens had to go on foot.

What not to do when driving a scooter?

Policemen remind you that in accordance with art. 45 para. 1 point 1 of the Road Traffic Act, it is forbidden to drive a vehicle – including electrical scooter – in a state of intoxication or after using alcohol. They also emphasize that an electric scooter is a single vehicle. Transporting another person, animal or load in accordance with art. 33a para. 3 points 2 Road traffic law – is prohibited.

Policemen emphasized that although a scooter may seem like an inconspicuous means of transport, riding it in a state of intoxication carries a serious threat – both for the driver and other road users. “Alcohol weakens reflexes, the assessment of the distance and the ability to respond to situations on the road. When choosing an electric scooter ride, let's take care not only of the battery – but also about common sense” – they appealed.
