The family of a resident of Piątnica (Podlaskie Voivodeship) had no contact with her for two days. The woman went out to the nearby marshes to collect cranberries. After several dozen hours, she was found. She was – as police report – cold and sore.
The services were notified by the missing person’s family living in Germany. Relatives worried when they failed to call the 79-year-old for two days. During the last conversation, the woman said that she was planning a trip to the Jedwabne commune and picking cranberries in the local swamps.
– The policemen first checked her house and already then confirmed the suspicions of the reporting person. It turned out that the woman had gone out to pick cranberries two days earlier and had not returned home. She also did not take the phone with her, so there was no contact with her – reports Justyna Janowska from the police in Łomża.
She was lying on the clumps of grass, she had no strength to get up
In Jedwabne, policemen found a former neighbor of the 79-year-old. And this one pointed to a place in the forest where the woman usually picked cranberries. – The information that his sister-in-law is there now turned out to be a valuable clue. The police contacted the woman and determined that she had seen the missing person in the swamps. Following her tips, a moment later they found the 79-year-old girl, says the policewoman.
The inhabitant of Piątnica was cold and sore. – She was lying on clumps of grass and she did not have the strength to get up – describes Janowska. The officers – until the arrival of the ambulance service – looked after the woman.
