Pińczów. Charges against a 30-year-old man for assisting in an abortion

A 30-year-old from Pińczów (Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship) was charged with helping his partner with an abortion. The man was placed under police surveillance and banned from leaving the country. The prosecutor’s office also questioned the 59-year-old aunt of the pregnant woman.

The man pleaded guilty to the charge of assisting in terminating the pregnancy with the woman’s consent and made an explanation. Police officers on Wednesday received a report about the possibility of committing a crime, detained two people: the woman’s 30-year-old partner and her 59-year-old aunt.

– The prosecutor applied libertarian preventive measures against the man in the form of police supervision and a ban on leaving the country – said Daniel Prokopowicz, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Kielce.

The prosecutor added that the woman’s aunt had been questioned as a witness and released to her home. Assisting a pregnant woman in an abortion is punishable by up to three years in prison.
