The District Court in Szczecin issued a verdict on the blowing up of the newlyweds’ house, which took place in June 2021 in Sosnowo near Łobez (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). The court decided to change the judgment of the court of first instance only in terms of compensation, reducing it to PLN 233,000. The remainder of the earlier decision was upheld.

As it was emphasized, none of the appeals deserved to be considered, and the analysis of the district court’s reasoning did not reveal any irregularities.

The decision is final. The representative of the auxiliary prosecutors emphasized the joy that her clients can “close this stage in their lives”. As she pointed out, the amount of penalties is satisfactory for the victims. However, she did not rule out that her clients would take the civil route.

Trial before the court of first instance launched at the end of March 2022.

He pointed to a building and a window through which he was to plant a flammable substance and set it on fire. He provided him with the substance in question and indicated the time in which the above-mentioned was to perform the order, promising him money in the amount of five thousand zlotys for its execution – this is how the prosecutor Diana Rokosz from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Łobez spoke about Bogdan W.’s actions during the first trial.

In January 2023 The District Court in Łobez found Bogdan W. and Mykoła O. guilty. Mykoła O. – commissioned by Bogdan W. – was to set fire to a house in Sosnów at a time when the owners of the building were having fun at their own wedding.

As the court found, “Bogdan W. directed the prohibited act by ordering the destruction of property by arson.” The man was to indicate the building and the window and instructed when the arson was to take place and offered – as the investigators established – PLN 5,000. W. was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Mykola O. was – according to the court’s findings – the direct executor of the arson. He was sentenced to six years in prison.

– The victims have lost their home, you can say all the achievements of their lives, what’s more, they have also lost their dreams and hopes that they associated with this house. Taking it away from them is a huge injustice – Magdalena Kwiatkowska, a judge of the District Court in Łobez, justified the sentence and compensation.

The court imposed an obligation on the men to repair the damage in the amount of PLN 311,000. zlotys. It also awarded compensation in the amount of PLN 300,000 to the family whose house was destroyed.

The fire occurred on the night of June 25-26, 2021 in Sosnowo (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). At that time, the hosts were enjoying their own wedding. – We found the building in the state after the explosion, with a damaged gable wall, as well as with other walls and structural elements of the building – said Capt. Grzegorz Paluch from the fire brigade in Łobez.

Shortly after the fire Mr. Adam, the owner of the house, spoke of a quarrel between him and a neighbor.

“It was about some quarrel, about a piece of land that belonged to me. I wanted to regain something that belonged to me a long time ago, I pay taxes for it, I will pay it for the rest of my life. I bought land of 2,300 square meters and it should be mine, not 1,800 meters, because the neighbor took something there and he thinks it’s his – the injured man reported.

As he reported, half an hour later the children were to return home from the wedding. So if the explosion had taken place tens of minutes later, someone could have died.

– It’s not supposed to look like this. If everyone was doing what the neighbor is doing right now, then there would be no population here. It would be one big rubble. You can argue about something, you can not talk to someone, but do something like this? said the man.
