Piotr Gliński was punished by the Sejm Ethics Committee of reprimand for the words from March about the premiere of Donald Tusk – said MP Ewa Schädler, a member of the committee. According to the former minister of culture, the decision is political.

It is about the words that Gliński said at the parliamentary rostrum during the meeting on March 7, 2025. PiS politician asked a question addressed to representatives of the Ministry of Culture about one of the trips abroad, but before he asked them he said that he was directed “in a situation of a creeping coup, arrest, detention of deputies, a prime minister who gives the impression of a psychopath.”
Gliński's statement caused the indignation of KO deputies. Sejm Deputy Marshal Monika Wielichowska (KO), who then conducted the meeting, said that PiS MP “He offended the prime minister, behaved scandalously and the case would land in the Ethics Committee.”
Gliński punished by the Ethics Committee
Ewa Schädler (Poland 2050-TD) MP announced on Wednesday that the Commission decided to punish Gliński with a reprimand, which is the highest penalty he could award. Schädler said that Gliński appeared before the commission and presented a “very turbulent defense line.”
She added that the speech of a PiS MP on the commission only confirmed her belief in the legitimacy of imposing a penalty. – His more than a half -hour statement was rather an attempt to prove that the Prime Minister is a psychopath (…), so we decided under the influence of his speech to punish him – said Polish MP 2050.

Gliński assessed in an interview with PAP that the commission's decision is political and contrary to the constitutional law to freedom of speech. He cited the content of the resolution on the principles of parliamentary ethics, according to which the MP should be guided by the public interest. “It was an opinion about the style of action, which gives the impression, and thus the opinion about a certain assessment about the actions of the Polish prime minister,” he explained.
Pursuant to the Regulations, the Commission may punish the MP with paying attention, granting a warning or granting a reprimand. The MP is entitled to an appeal against the decision of the Ethics Committee within 14 days from the date of delivery of the resolution regarding the penalty. The scope of the Ethics Committee is included, among others Considering matters of deputies, “who behave in a way that does not correspond to the dignity of the MP.”
