Former Deputy Minister of Finance Piotr Patkowski became the head of the Polish Audit Oversight Agency (PANA). According to Andrzej DomaĆski from the Civic Coalition, these decisions are made in a way “that raises doubts” and announces their verification. – The government functions, the government works and has every right to do so – said Anna KwiecieĆ from Law and Justice.
Patkowski was appointed President of the Polish Audit Oversight Agency on November 11, 2023, replacing Marcin Obroniecki. Previously, until November 10, Patkowski served as Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance, which he took up on April 16, 2020. During this period, he was also the Chief Spokesman for Public Finance Discipline.

Politicians about the new position of the former deputy minister of finance
– It is clearly visible that the evacuation action is from the government PIS it is in full swing, even accelerating. Mr. Patkowski as the main spokesman for public finance discipline has absolutely failed and it is scary what will happen to audit supervision in Poland. It is clear that these decisions are made hastily and in a way that raises doubts. It is natural that we will verify them, said Andrzej DomaĆski from KO.
In turn, Ryszard Petru from Poland 2050 emphasized that “there will be no reduced tariff” and “people who are not suitable must leave these offices.”
– How? By changing the law. Someone will say, ok, but then Andrzej Duda will veto the bill. He won’t veto all of them. Or there are bills that he will not be able to veto, and the bill may include a provision that will mean that men like Mr. Patkowski will no longer be bosses. We cannot allow them to steal the country and land them in good jobs just to survive the difficult years, the lean years, when they are in the opposition. It is very important. No mercy (in English), Petru said.
When asked about the new position of the former Minister of Finance, Anna KwiecieĆ replied: – The government functions, the government works and it has every right to do so. It was the same under every previous government. I think that there were nominations until the last moment and please tell me that wasn’t the case. There were nominations.
She added that “politics is one big, so to speak, conglomerate of emotions.” – We still have two weeks and the government must work until the last day. This is the law of democracy, said KwiecieĆ.
