Andrzej Halicki, MEP KO, said that from a group of European conservatives and reformers in the European Parliament, to which PiS belongs, only Polish deputies voted against the resolution recognizing the East shield as a European Union's flagship project. He also explained that PiS representatives co -created the EU document. In his opinion, the decision to vote against “fell in Warsaw”.
On Wednesday, the European Parliament voted a resolution on strengthening EU defense. As part of it, an amendment was also adopted recognizing the east shield as a flagship project for the joint security of the European Union. The document was adopted by a vulnery majority (419 to 204). The resolutions, however, were not supported by PiS and confederation MEPs.
This decision Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized several times. PiS representatives argued that they voted for the amendment introducing the East shield to the EU document, but against the resolution itself.
Halicki about voting in the EP: This decision was made in Warsaw
According to Andrzej Halicki, PiS MEPs “try to blur this fatal impression, because they know perfectly well that they did wrong.” – They did badly for many reasons, including because they voted against the Polish interest and the obvious document that strengthens the sense of security – he explained.
MEP KO revealed that “EKR (European conservatives and reformers – ed.), The political group to which PiS belongs, co -founded this document.” – I am his co -author, we wrote him together. By the way, also Mr. Joachim Brudzinski (PiS MEP – ed.) Is a co -author of this document, please check – he added.
– Only Polish deputies from that group voted for “no” and this decision was made in Warsaw. This is obvious and was dictated by hatred of Tusk's government or calculation – said Halicki. – That is why today they have discomfort, how to explain it, because it cannot be explained – added Halicki.
– Prime Minister Tusk wrote that it smells of treason. This is betrayal. This is a disgrace and a denial of Polish national interests and not only Polish. PiS deputies They also betrayed our friends from the Baltic States. This resolution is not only mentioned by the East shield, but also about the Baltic defense line. Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians cannot get out of surprise – said Krzysztof Hetman.
Appeal of President Duda. “A little shame”
President Andrzej Duda in an interview with the daily “Financial Times” He appealed to the USA for the distribution of nuclear weapons in Polandwhich the Vice President of the United States reacted to JD Vance, saying that he would “be shocked” if the president Donald Trump He agreed to move the nuclear arsenal further to east of Europe. The Polish president's proposal was also the topic of conversation in “Facts after Facts” on TVN24 – a bit shame. I understand that President Duda would like to end this presidency with his accent, but from such talk and capillary, very colloquially speaking, without any grounds for this, it only does a problem for us, because it is a very serious topic and related to our security – commented MEP KO Andrzej Halicki.
He added that “at different levels we should pursue such a goal, but to strive for effectively, you have to do it diplomatically.”
Hetman: The president showed extreme naivety
– The president showed extreme naivety and this is the mildest what I can say – assessed another MEP Krzysztof Hetman (PSL -Trzecia Road). He emphasized that in the 10th year of his office, President Duda “should know that such sensitive matters are first agreed and later communicated.”
– In such an extremely sensitive case, President Duda showed complete irresponsibility, which JD Vance exposed, completely forgetting that the table also lies a French proposal, which is interesting for us, but we are waiting for specifics – he added.
