On Saturday, the PiS Political Council adopted resolutions including: about unity with the Republican Party, in defense of freedom of speech, or the decision of the head of the Ministry of National Defense to liquidate the Smolensk subcommittee. The speech of the PiS president was commented on TVN24 by Wojciech Czuchnowski, who said that what caught his attention in Kaczyński’s speech was “the general tone of lack of conviction, lack of fire.” In turn, Roch Kowalski from RMF FM noted that the PiS president “does not really have any idea how to respond to the election defeat.”

The PiS Political Council was held on Saturday afternoon in Warsaw. After the meeting, the party president spoke Jaroslaw Kaczynski. He listed the list of resolutions that were adopted during the meeting.

He said that the “most important” of them was this one unity with the Republican Party. He assessed that “this is an element of the consolidation of right-wing and patriotic forces.”

He said that a resolution on the matter had also been adopted choice the new secretary general of the party. It was Piotr Milowański.

A new party treasurer was also elected. This function went to Henryk Kowalczyk – former Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture.

Kaczyński: we are dealing with a strong tendency to violate the rights of Catholics

The next resolutions – as Kaczyński enumerated – concerned the election of members of the presidium of the PiS Political Committee, which he joined Adam Bielan, the 42nd anniversary of the introduction of martial law in Poland, the defense of freedom of speech, the dismissal of members of the commission investigating Russian influence (it is called “lex Tusk”) and the decision of the head of the Ministry of National Defense on the liquidation of the Smolensk subcommittee and the dismissal of its members. According to the PiS president, their dismissal and paralysis of the activities of this commission “are the best proof that those who rule Poland today have a lot to hide.”

A resolution on the violation of religious rights in Poland was also adopted. – We are dealing with a strong tendency to violate the rights of Catholics – said Kaczyński.

Resolution “in defense of freedom of speech”

In the resolution on the defense of freedom of speech, it was written that “Donald Tusk’s government announces the takeover of public media and the verification and dismissal of journalists.” It was assessed that this would happen “in violation of the legal order in force in Poland.”

According to the resolution, “freedom of speech and journalistic independence are the foundation of democracy.” As noted, “the announced actions of the government and their attacks on journalists are a blow to its foundations and reveal the anti-democratic nature of the current government.”

“The Political Council of Law and Justice firmly protests against the destruction of public media, whose role in ensuring Poles’ right to information and broad, pluralistic debate is crucial in our country, and their importance for Polish culture and identity cannot be overestimated,” the resolution reads.

“Polish Television and Polish Radio express the views and expectations of millions of Poles,” it was written. “An attack on public media means depriving them of their participation in the debate and the right to information,” we read in the resolution. “Poles want to have a choice and do not agree to the monopoly in the media of only one, left-liberal side of the political dispute,” it was noted.

“The Political Council warns those in power against the use of lawlessness. We will defend public media and their journalists. Anyone who violates the law in force in Poland and makes an attack on freedom of speech must take into account that sooner or later they will suffer severe consequences,” it was emphasized.

Kaczyński: Brussels in this case is also called Berlin

Kaczyński said that if the announced changes in the public media take place, the activities of the new government, including the deliberations of the investigative committees appointed by the Sejm, will not be objectively reported. He stated that the actions of these committees “will be a great embarrassment to those who are in power today.” He argued that their scope of action “does not concern any crimes, but only actions that were undertaken legally, and sometimes even on the basis of a certain constitutional coercion, such as holding elections on time.”

According to Kaczyński, “all this creates a terrible picture.” – And in the background there is everything that is happening in the European Union, i.e. the plan to create a centralized state, which in the case of Poland amounts to the complete subordination of our country to Brussels – noted the PiS leader. – But Brussels in this case is also called Berlin – he added.

– We must oppose all this and that is why we must unite. And this is the most important issue for us, Kaczyński said.

Kaczyński on the liquidation of the Smolensk subcommittee: it’s something that can be treated as a gift for Putin

Kaczyński also talked about the resolution adopted regarding the decision of the head of the Ministry of National Defense to liquidate the Smolensk subcommittee. – It is known that this commission, which has already presented its report – the conclusions are clear – the attack, undoubtedly organized on Putin’s initiative, is something that could be treated as a gift for Putin – said the PiS leader.

The PiS president also reported that there was a discussion during the Council about “what happened.” – Why, after doing so much for society and its various groups, we were unable to obtain an absolute majority of votes. We also obtained a slightly worse result in terms of the number of votes cast than in the previous elections. This matter will be explained in a much deeper study than what can be prepared at the moment, he announced. He added that matters related to the upcoming local and European elections were also discussed, as well as “everything related to the reorganization of the party.” – Such a reorganization of the party carried out by the Political Committee is currently underway – Kaczyński said.

“Kaczyński has no idea how to respond to the election defeat”

The speech of the PiS president was commented on TVN24 by journalists – Wojciech Czuchnowski from “Gazeta Wyborcza” and Roch Kowalski from RMF FM.

Wojciech Czuchnowski said that what caught his attention in Kaczyński’s speech was “the general tone of lack of conviction, lack of fire in this speech.” – Because even when he talked about the Smolensk attack, protesting against the liquidation of the Smolensk subcommittee, he was completely unconvincing when he talked about the attack on the President of the Republic of Poland, on his brother – he said.

– As if somewhere deep down he was also aware that this is Smolensk, this is not something he will kidnap voters with. This means that he will not kidnap these voters either with Bielany, or by threatening the European Union, or with the Smolensk attack, but by saying that by defending the extremely politicized TVP, which does not employ journalists but party functionaries, he is defending freedom of speech, (…). This will simply make all sensible voters laugh, said the “Wyborcza” journalist.

– I think that President Jarosław Kaczyński, and probably in general Law and Justice, has no idea how to respond to the electoral defeat. This means that if all the president of this party can do is inform about five or six resolutions that the Political Committee has adopted, these are not the times, really. However, more than thirty years have passed since the fall of communism and politics is no longer practiced this way, commented Roch Kowalski.
