PiS politicians are defending propaganda, which has probably become even more aggressive – said Dr. Krzysztof Grzegorzewski, a media expert from the University of Łódź, who commented on TVN24 on the presence of United Right politicians in government television buildings, next to their employees and the president.
Over a hundred PiS MPs were absent from Tuesday’s vote on the resolution on public media. At that time they were at the headquarters of government television. Among others, they appeared at Woronicza Jaroslaw KaczynskiPrzemysław Czarnek, Joanna LichockaMarek Suski, Ryszard Terlecki or Mariusz Błaszczak. According to the party president, who himself left the TVP building after 6 a.m., opposition politicians will be on duty on public television in groups of 10.
Grzegorzewski: we examined “Wiadomości”, viewers were manipulated on at least five levels
Media expert Dr. Krzysztof Grzegorzewski from the Department of Journalism and Social Communication at the University of Lodz spoke about these events on TVN24. In his opinion, PiS politicians “defend the system they created after 2015.” – I deliberately say after 2015, because there were still some contracts there, there were still journalists indirectly praising Law and Justice as a political party – he explained.
– They defend, and I regret to say it, propaganda, which has actually become even more aggressive – he added.
Referring to the resolution adopted yesterday by the Sejm regarding “restoring legal order and the impartiality and reliability of the public media and the Polish Press Agency“, Grzegorzewski said that it quoted, among others, the report of the Journalists’ Society. – We examined TVP’s “Wiadomości” in it, we looked at the last 33 days, issue by issue, very carefully – he described.
– In my part of the report, I said, among other things, that viewers were manipulated on at least five levels, because imagine that the structure of the program itself was also manipulated – he said.
“Shatters of an alleged media empire”
According to a media expert, PiS politicians “defend a state that for them is either to be or not to be.” – Because Jarosław Kaczyński, who denied the media system in the shape in which we currently have it, always wanted to create his own strong media – he noted.
Grzegorzewski recalled that in the years 2005-2007 “Kaczyński cooperated with media independent of the government because he simply had to.”
– But he already knew then that he should create his own media and lead to some kind of domination, if not supremacy. But it hasn’t been done, fortunately, and it hasn’t been done efficiently enough, because it turns out that Jarosław Kaczyński’s alleged media empire is now basically just shreds, he said.
