The President of the Polish Olympic Committee, Radosław Piesiewicz, was asked in “Fakty po Faktach” TVN24 about the accusations against him. Among other things, they concern how public money in the amount of over PLN 90 million, which went to the Polish Olympic Committee for preparations for the games, was spent. Polish sports achievements turned out to be the worst in several decades. The issue of Piesiewicz's relationship with the former Minister of State Assets is also raised Jacek Sasin.
Piesiewicz was asked if he confirmed that he refused to provide explanations to the Minister of Sport To Sławomir Nitras – although he demands it – because he claims that the head of the ministry is not an authorized person.
– Exactly – he replied. He assessed that “Minister Nitras has made it his goal from the beginning to change the president of the Polish Olympic Committee”. – We are an independent association that chooses its president – he emphasized, convincing that the minister “is trying to blackmail sports associations into changing the president of the Polish Olympic Committee”.
– But I will repeat once again: we approach this calmly and humbly, we work, we do not give up and we will work, because Polish sport will not be intimidated. Polish sport is against Minister Nitras attacking us – he continued.
He assured that he does not feel like “the face of failure.”
Piesiewicz on his relationship with Sasin
Marciniak also asked the head of the Polish Olympic Committee whether he had “ever lent money to Jacek Sasin?” – But really? 20 years ago? And have you ever lent money to anyone in your life? – Piesiewicz replied.
– Then you supported his campaign, his campaign? Campaign PiS? – Marciniak asked further. Piesiewicz argued that “he also supported the Civic Platform, making a payment in 2010, I think.”
– Do you deny that you built your position in sports on this political friendship (with Sasin – ed.)? – the host of the program asked him. – I deny it. Please check my contacts, there is everything to verify whether I contacted Mr. Sasin for four years. There was no contact – he argued.
