What's next for PKP Cargo? Dariusz Klimczak: The company is on the right track

He explained that in the coming weeks the main challenge for the Ministry of Infrastructure will be to “complete the restructuring PKP Cargo”. – It is true that this is a listed company, but it is not a typical State Treasury company. The PKP group has shares in it, 33%. However, I feel responsible for this company, which is being restructured for the second time. Our predecessors brought it to a terrible condition – he added.

Klimczak also said that the layoffs at PKP Cargo are “one of the elements of restructuring”. – The basic one is new orders. We recently signed a new contract for the delivery of coal from Bogdanka to one of the energy companies. We won another large tender for several hundred million zlotys. Our predecessors were unable to do this – said the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

– The company is on the right track, we are stabilizing its finances, strengthening its market position, and we will take care of its employees. We have signed several letters of intent, where 2,000 PKP Cargo employees have the opportunity to move to, for example, PKP Intercity, PKP Intercity Remtrak, PKP PLK, and even other companies that are not related to PKP, e.g. Budimex – explained Dariusz Klimczak.
