From Wednesday, PKP Intercity ticket prices return to the levels before the increase of January 11. Base prices for connections in the TLK and IC categories will be on average about 11 percent lower, and for the EIC and EIP categories by about 15 percent on average.
From January 11, the new PKP Intercity ticket price list is in force. Base prices for single tickets in Pendolino trains increased by 17.8% on average, 17.4% on EIC trains and 11.8% on average on TLK/IC trains. The increase in ticket prices was justified by the carrier’s increase in electricity prices.
PKP Intercity ticket prices from March 1, 2023
According to the information provided by PKP Intercity, following the lower prices of single tickets, the prices of section tickets, Intercity Cards (entitling to unlimited travel on PKP Intercity trains on any routes), as well as fees for the transport of bicycles, dogs and luggage will also be reduced.
As the carrier informed, people who bought section tickets or Intercity cards at prices applicable from 11 January this year will be able to refund funds in proportion to the number of unused days.
The Ministry of Infrastructure informed PAP a few days ago that PKP Intercity, after withdrawing from the increase in ticket prices for TLK and IC trains, will receive an additional PLN 50 million from the state budget in the coming weeks. In this way, the significant, according to the ministry, increase in the costs of running a transport service is to be mitigated, including because of growth electricity prices. It is also possible that another PLN 50 million will be allocated to the carrier from the state budget in the middle of this year. However, the transfer of this amount will depend on the company’s needs related to the situation on the electricity market.
The previously planned compensation for PKP Intercity’s performance of tasks in the field of public collective transport for 2023 is PLN 1,218,696,000. PLN, but this year it was increased by an additional PLN 575 million from the state budget reserve.
