PKP Intercity: difficulties in running trains to and from Berlin on November 13-15, 2023

From Wednesday to Friday, there will be disruptions on train routes to and from Berlin. The reason for changes in train services is the strike of trade unions in Germany – informs PKP Intercity in a press release.

“We would like to inform you about changes in connections due to trade union strikes in Germany. This situation affects the operation of selected trains to/from Berlin on November 15-17,” the carrier reported on its website.

The company explained that on Wednesday, trains: No. 46 on the Warszawa Wschodnia – Berlin route, No. 56 on the PrzemyÅ›l Główny – Berlin route, No. 44 on the Warszawa Wschodnia – Berlin route, and No. 40 on the Warszawa Wschodnia – Berlin route will finish in Rzepin. As reported, travelers will continue their journey to Berlin on board buses to Frankfurt (Oder) and then on regional DB trains (Deutsche Bahn).

Also on Thursday, the following trains will reach Rzepin only: No. 456 from Graz Hauptbahnhof – Berlin-Charlottenburg, No. 248 from Warszawa Wschodnia – Berlin Hbf, No. 246 from Warszawa Wschodnia – Berlin Hbf, No. 48 from Warszawa Wschodnia – Berlin, No. 58 Gdynia Główna – Berlin, no. 46 of the Warszawa Wschodnia – Berlin relationship, no. 56 of the PrzemyÅ›l Główny – Berlin relationship, no. 44 of the Warszawa Wschodnia – Berlin relationship, no. 40 of the Warszawa Wschodnia – Berlin relationship. Then, passengers of these trains will change to buses going to Frankfurt and Oder and continue on DB trains.

The carrier announced that on Thursday the following trains will leave the Rzepin station: No. 457 on the Berlin-Charlottenburg – Graz Hauptbahnhof route, No. 59 on the Berlin Hbf – Gdynia Główna route, No. 49 on the Berlin Hbf – Warszawa Wschodnia route, No. 247 on the Berlin Hbf – Warszawa Wschodnia route, no. 249 relations Berlin Hbf – Warszawa GdaÅ„ska, no. 57 relations Berlin Hbf – PrzemyÅ›l Główny, no. 47 relations Berlin Hbf – Warszawa Wschodnia, no. 41 relations Berlin Hbf – Warszawa Wschodnia, no. 45 relations Berlin Hbf – Warszawa Wschodnia.

As added, travelers from Berlin to Frankfurt (Oder) will be able to travel by DB regional trains, and on the section from Frankfurt to Rzepin by buses operated by PKP Intercity.

PKP Intercity announced that on Friday the following trains will leave the Rzepin station: No. 57 on the Berlin Hbf – PrzemyÅ›l Główny route, No. 47 on the Berlin Hbf – Warszawa Wschodnia route, No. 41 on the Berlin Hbf – Warszawa Wschodnia route, and No. 45 on the Berlin Hbf – Warszawa Wschodnia route. On this day there will also be, among others: replacement bus transport.

The company explained that from Wednesday to Thursday, replacement bus service will be in force for each PKP Intercity train traveling to and from Berlin. Buses will run from the square in front of the station in Rzepin to the Frankfurt (Oder) station and from this station to Rzepin. Travel time by bus is approximately 60 minutes. From Frankfurt (Oder) station to Berlin and vice versa, travelers can travel by regional trains.

“Travellers who have tickets to and from Germany issued by November 15, 2023 for journeys November 15-17, 2023, can travel on the basis of their ticket from November 15, 2023 to November 23, 2023. This applies to all types of tickets , also issued according to special offers, including Super Promo International. Travelers who decide to change the departure date can download free seat reservations at the ticket office,” added the carrier.

As reported, the carrier has also introduced special rules for the return of international tickets valid for journeys from and to Germanpurchased in the “PKP Intercity” sales channels no later than November 15, 2023 and valid for journeys until November 17, 2023.

According to the latest available data from the Office of Rail Transport, in the period from January to September 2023, 276.13 million passengers used railway services.

Polregio is a passenger carrier with the largest share in the domestic market. The company transported 26.17 percent. all passengers. In second place was PKP Intercity with a result of 18.38%. The last place on the podium was taken by Koleje Mazowieckie – 16.35%.
