The liquidation of Your Linie Kolejowe (TLK) category trains may take place between 2027 and 2030, PKP Intercity predicts. In the current timetable, 46 TLK trains run; in the previous one there were 54 of them. The connections served by them are being replaced by more modern wagons.

In the information sent to PAP, PKP Intercity emphasized that the company constantly purchases new and modernizes its rolling stock, which complements the Intercity (IC) category. “As its availability increases, the oldest wagons operating in the TLK category are withdrawn from use and, if possible, intended for further modernization,” it was reported.

Soon there will be no TLK category

“Switching off the oldest wagons causes the natural extinction of the TLK category. Connections operated by it are replaced with the IC category. Ticket prices for IC category trains are the same as in TLK,” it was reported.

The carrier explained that the main difference between the TLK and IC categories is comfort – IC category trains use new and modernized wagons and new multiple units. “They are air-conditioned and equipped with Wi-Fi signal amplifiers. Each passenger can use a socket to charge phones and laptops. From the passenger's point of view, information systems are very important – displays showing upcoming stations,” he pointed out.

The current number of TLK trains is 46 – in the previous timetable (before December 15, 2024) there were 54 of them. The number of IC trains has been increased. There are 359 of them, and before December 15, 2024, there were 303. “Currently, based on existing and planned contracts, PKP Intercity predicts that the complete liquidation of the TLK category may take place in the period 2027 – 2030,” the company informed.
