Play closes some UPC Polska stores. “We analyze and optimize the combined network of showrooms on an ongoing basis,” Ewa Sankowska-Sieniek from the Play press office told TVN24 Biznes. As she explained, customers receive, among other things, text messages in this matter, so that “they have clarity where the nearest salon is located”.

In September 2021, P4, the operator of the Play network, signed an agreement to take over UPC Polska. The transaction was finalized in April last year. Since then, UPC Polska belongs to the P4 Group. UPC Polska was previously part of Liberty Global, an international operator of television and broadband Internet services, operating in over 30 countries in Europe, South America and the Caribbean.

On the UPC website we can read that “now you can also settle matters related to the UPC contract in Play stores”.

After the transaction has been finalized, “optimization of the combined network of showrooms” is underway. Wirtualmedia.pl, an industry portal, wrote that subscribers from various cities in the country receive text messages that the UPC store is closing down. In return, their duties are to be provided by Play salons.

Closed UPC Polska showrooms

“We analyze and optimize the combined network of showrooms on an ongoing basis to ensure that customers have constant access to our services and the highest level of service in the most convenient locations,” Ewa Sankowska-Sieniek from the Play press office told TVN24 Biznes. As she reported, customers are informed about the changes through various channels, including SMS, website, posters on shop windows, “so that customers can be clear where the nearest showroom is located”.

In addition – as reported by the press office – investments are being made in the development of showrooms, transforming some of them into service and sales showrooms, where every customer “is supposed to feel good, regardless of age and knowledge of technology”. “We customize the interior, help choose the offer and devices, explain technological issues in simple language, and customer service is provided by joint teams of Play and UPC consultants. Such salons are already in Warsaw, Katowice, Sosnowiec and Jastrzębie-Zdrój. Soon we will open more outlets” – she announced Ewa Sankowska-Sieniek.

We also asked how many UPC Polska stores have been closed so far and what will happen to the employees of the closing stores, but we have not received answers to these questions.

More than 1.6 million customers use UPC services.
