The Płock police have detained a 35-year-old man who tried to steal alcohol from a supermarket in the city. The man threatened a security guard, store employees, and then officers with a knife. He was overpowered. He faces up to 10 years in prison.

As reported on Saturday by the spokeswoman of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Płock, Deputy Commissioner Monika Jakubowska, two days earlier a report was received there that in one of the supermarkets in the city a man was threatening the store employees with a knife – a patrol was immediately sent to the scene.

– The man wanted to steal alcohol. When he was spotted by a security guard, he took out a knife and threatened the store employees – explained Deputy Commissioner Jakubowska. When the officers arrived at the scene, the attacker, who turned out to be a 35-year-old resident of Płock with multiple convictions, was overpowered by them.

During the intervention, the aggressive man insulted the police officers, whom he also threatened. After his arrest, he was charged. – The court applied a preventive measure in the form of temporary arrest. He faces up to 10 years in prison – added the spokeswoman for the Płock police.
