Płock. The facade of the church in Kobylniki was renovated

After three years, conservation works ended at the facade of the church of St. Anna in Kobylniki (Masovian Voivodeship). Bricks were cleaned, defects were supplemented, plasters were strengthened. During the research in the temple, the presence of polychrome was confirmed, which may be exposed in the future.

Conservation and renovation works were carried out in the late Gothic church in Kobylniki in the Wyszogród commune. They began in 2021 at the external walls and the facades of the church. At the end of 2024, their last stage ended.

The facade is cleaned, strengthened plasters

Conservation works focused on cleaning brick facades and supplementing brick and weld defects. As described by the Mazowieckie Voivodship Conservator of Monuments, there was also strengthening and consolidation of historical plasters and plastering expeditions were recreated.

“In addition, thanks to the MWKZ subsidy last year, stratigraphic studies were carried out for the presence of polychrome, as a result of which the painting layers were distinguished from the 16th to the 20th century” – we read in the conservator's announcement. As he announced, the next step will be to restore the interior of the temple of painting decor.

The church comes from the 16th century

“The late Gothic church in Kobylniki, was founded around 1520 from the Mikołaj Kobylnicki Foundation – secretary Zygmunt and the old, chancellor of the Płock Curia, canon of Płock and Pułtusk, and Stanisław Kobylnicki – the staroste of Przasnyski and the Chorąży Zakroczymski” – writes the Mazowiecko provincial conservator of monuments.

The church was entered in the register of monuments in 1959.
