Police officers from Płońsk detained an Opel driver who two weeks ago allegedly hit an 11-year-old girl riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk and then drove away. He will appear in court soon. He faces a heavy fine and a driving ban.

The 11-year-old was hit on the evening of August 15 on ul. Północna in Płońsk. The driver of the Opel passenger car, as the police informed at the time, after the collision, which he caused while leaving the parking lot, got out of the car for a moment and after a short conversation with the injured party, got back in, and then drove away, “claiming that he was in a hurry”.

– The girl who was hit was taken to hospital. Fortunately, she did not suffer any serious injuries – recalled on Wednesday the spokeswoman for the police in Płońsk, Commander Kinga Drężek-Zmysłowska. She informed about the arrest of the perpetrator of the collision, who was wanted.

– A misdemeanor proceeding was conducted regarding the incident, in accordance with applicable legal provisions. The police determined that the driver of the Opel who hit the girl was a 48-year-old from Płońsk – said Kom. Drężek-Zmysłowska.

He hit an 11-year-old girl on a scooter with a car. He drove off, “claiming he was in a hurry.”

He was charged with causing a threat to road safety, which resulted in impairment of the functions of a body organ or health disorder of another person, as well as a charge of driving without a licence.

– An application to the court to punish the 48-year-old has been prepared – noted the spokeswoman for the Płońsk police. She explained that the perpetrator of the collision could face a high fine and a driving ban.
