After 9 p.m., the officer on duty of the State Fire Service in Łódź informed that the fire was no longer spreading, but due to the fact that the pile of Mausers in the range of the flames is several meters high, the fire-fighting operation may last at least a few more hours.

– We extinguish a heap fire on an area of approximately 150 square meters. It is a landfill containing Mauser-type tanks with waste, arranged in several layers. Our activities include, among other things, administering foam currents from the plots, said Jędrzej Pawlak, spokesman for the provincial commander of the State Fire Service in Łódź.

One plastic Mauser tank can contain up to 1,000 liters of liquid substance. It was not known what substances were in the tanks caught on fire. Therefore, a chemical rescue group of the State Fire Service from Łódź was sent to the site to determine any possible threat to local residents.

At its highest point, the waste pile is seven meters high. There are no injuries.
