PO primaries, survey results. Rafał Trzaskowski about Radosław Sikorski

Prime minister Donald Tusk posted on Monday results of the announced “big survey” regarding opportunities Rafał Trzaskowski and Radosław Sikorski in next year's presidential elections. “Rafał Trzaskowski defeats the PiS candidate in the first round 40 to 28, and in the second round 57 to 43,” wrote the head of government. “Radek Sikorski loses to the PiS candidate 28 to 30 in the first, but wins in the second 54 to 46,” he added.

“The survey result is clear, but it is still only an indication. Your vote has the power of decision!” – emphasized the Prime Minister.

The Mayor of Warsaw, referring to these results in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24, said that “we have had such results for many months, which show my decisive advantage.” – Radek Sikorski always said that he wanted this in-depth research by the Civic Coalition. He also hoped that there would be some change after the elections in the United States, because he wanted these tests to take place a week after the elections in the United States. There was no change. It is clear that these trends are exactly the same, he noted.

The host of the program, Anita Werner, noticed that Sikorski's supporters point out that survey comes from the time before the KO primaries were announced.

– Radosław Sikorski has been telling us all along that he would like to have a thorough poll after the elections in the United States. He has been running this pre-campaign for many, many weeks. He started much earlier than me. We did exactly as Radosław Sikorski wanted, the poll exactly at the moment he wanted – argued Trzaskowski. What's more, he added, he decided to hold primaries, “which was probably even a surprise to everyone.” – Because I decided that since we have a competitor, let's put ourselves in the hands of the members of the Civic Coalition – he explained.

– I really did everything that Radek Sikorski wanted. And Radek Sikorski is unable to come to terms with this objective survey. This surprises me, he said.

Trzaskowski in “Fakty po Faktach” stated that “Radosław Sikorski's supporters, interestingly, people who will not vote in these primaries because they are not even in the Civic Coalition, (..), claimed that Radosław Sikorski will win if “it's about conservative and centrist voters, which turned out to be untrue.” – I have an advantage among centrist, left-wing and conservative voters, but most importantly, I also have a very large advantage among all undecided voters. This is a prognostic, very important for me, and I think for everyone – he added.

Trzaskowski also noted that his party has “scores to settle with PiS” and that is what it is mainly focused on.

When asked how he would like to distinguish himself from the president Andrzej Dudahe replied “everything”. He assessed that what was most important was independence. – I am an independent politician. Today I am also showing that I am ready to turn to all my colleagues in the party and put myself in their hands. I am a politician who is always ready to cooperate (…), but I also stand firm in my arguments, he argued.

– I am a person who builds a coalition, a community, and this is exactly the opposite of President Andrzej Duda, who was one hundred percent dependent on the president of his party – he added.

Trzaskowski also referred to the meeting last Thursday with a group of officials associated with the Republican Party and the future administration of Donald Trump. The delegation included Trump's first-presidency Secretary of the Army, Ryan D. McCarthy, and two retired generals who held key positions in the past. USA Army – James McConville and Edward Daly.

– I am meeting with everyone who worked with Trump and who has the opportunity to contact him. This delegation is mainly concerned with strengthening the possibility of supplying weapons to… Ukraine and wants to strengthen logistics, he said.

In his opinion, “every American investment of this type in Poland strengthens our security.” – By the way, I explain to all politicians who were or are associated with Trump, and I talk to many of them, that what is fundamental is the issue of our security. Trump has always said that he will always help those countries that take responsibility into their own hands. We spend almost five percent of our GDP on security, which means we are doing exactly what Trump said. We convince other countries of the North Atlantic Alliance and the EU to invest more in their security. So, in a sense, we are doing exactly what Trump proposed – said the president of the capital on TVN24.

– Moreover, we say to all American investors: come and invest in Polish security, because it strengthens us all. I am convinced that Trump, as a former businessman, someone who is guided by intuition and realism, will take into account that we have very strong, also American, investments in Poland – he added.

Trzaskowski emphasized that “our alliance is an alliance with the United States, not with one or another administration.”

– I have been in contact with both of them for years. Whenever I can, when anyone from the Republican Party either calls me, or I call them, or is in Warsaw, I meet to explain these reasons because I trust that they will reach President Trump and his surroundings – he added.
