Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak opened a new military unit in Czartajewo (Podlaskie). – In order to prevent our homeland from being attacked, we are strengthening the Polish Army – said the head of the Ministry of National Defense.
– We can say with satisfaction that another unit in the east of our country has been launched. We are building new units and equipping them with modern equipment, said the Minister of National Defense on Sunday Mariusz Błaszczak during the inauguration of the Polish Army unit in Czartajewo.
As emphasized by Minister Mariusz Błaszczak, the establishment of a tank battalion in Czartajewo, in the Siemiatycze commune, is aimed at strengthening defense against a possible attack from Russia and Belarus. – We are aware of the threats, we are perfectly aware that the Kremlin rulers started the war because they want to rebuild the Russian Empire, which has always been dangerous to its neighbors. In order to prevent our homeland from being attacked, we are strengthening the Polish Army and establishing new units. There was no military unit here, but it is necessary to ensure the security of our homeland, he said.
The head of the Ministry of National Defense also thanked the local government for donating the property to the Polish Army. – This is why we were able to create this unit so quickly. We care about time. We do not wait for events to happen, but react before they happen, he emphasized. He also encouraged the inhabitants of Siemiatycze County to join the army.
Błaszczak: our goal is to build an army of at least 300,000 soldiers
Mariusz Błaszczak reminded that the last edition of voluntary compulsory military service this year begins on November 13. He informed that over 8,300 volunteers would take part in it. – Let’s maintain this level of notifications and then this level of military development – he emphasized.
In this context, the Minister of National Defense recalled speech by President Andrzej Duda on the occasion of the National Independence Day, in which the president spoke about the need to maintain the program to strengthen the Polish Armed Forces. – This process is ongoing, it is very dynamic, but for now we are halfway there. Our goal is to build an army of at least 300,000 soldiers, our goal is for the Polish land forces to be the strongest in Europe. This goal results from cold calculation, because only such armed forces can ensure the security of our homeland – said the head of the Ministry of National Defense.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, there is already a container camp in Czartajewo with the necessary social and living infrastructure. Expansion of permanent infrastructure is planned. Initially, over a hundred soldiers will be stationed in Czartajewo, and after the infrastructure is expanded, several hundred will be stationed permanently. In addition to the recently purchased Korean K2 tanks, Rak mortars and Poprad anti-aircraft systems will be stationed there.
