The Third Way, i.e. Poland 2050 and PSL, are organizing talks about spending on education and have invited PiS, Konfederacja, Civic Coalition and the Left. Szymon Hołownia thanked the KO and the Left on Friday for the “quick acceptance” of the invitation. “We can consult the terms of their capitulation with PiS. We will talk about the future in a group of patriots,” wrote the PO leader, Donald Tusk, shortly afterwards. Borys Budka later added that the PiS invitation took place “behind the back” of the PO. He then noted that “this changes everything.”

On Monday, the Third Way, i.e. the coalition committee of Poland 2050 and the Polish People’s Party, is organizing consultations in Warsaw on its first project “Future+” – a proposal to increase spending on education to 6 percent. GDP.

Leader of Poland 2050 Simon Hołownia informed on Friday around noon on Twitter that the committee invites representatives of the Civic Coalition, Confederation, Law and Justice and the Left to participate in them. As he said, consultations are scheduled for Monday afternoon in the Polish 2050 office.

A few hours later, he published a post in which he thanked KO and the Left for the “quick acceptance” of the invitation. “This is proof that a third way based on constructive conversation exists” – he added. “We invited all sides of the public debate to the consultations, because the Third Way wants to talk about the future with Poles of different views. Because the future is neither left-wing nor right-wing. It is our common one,” we read.

Later, a post appeared on Twitter Donald Tusk. “We can consult the terms of their capitulation with PiS. We will talk about the future in a group of patriots,” wrote the chairman of the Civic Platform.

These words of his were shared by the head of the KO club Boris Budka and commented: “We have built the opposition’s cooperation on common values. Inviting – behind our backs – those who have been destroying Poland for consultations on the future of Poland for 8 years is incomprehensible. There is no third way here.”

Budka: Hołownia did not inform that he had invited PiS. It changes everything

Budka also commented on the case in an interview with PAP. – So far, we have always participated in all opposition initiatives, but it was known that we do it together on the democratic side. Szymon Hołownia invited us for consultations on Monday, but did not inform that he had also invited representatives PIS. We learned about it from the media and it changes everything.

According to him, “it is impossible to talk about the future of Poland with people who have been destroying Poland for eight years.” – You can’t want to dismiss Przemysław Czarnek and talk to him about the future at the same time – he said when asked if the invitation of the ruling party meant that the KO would not take part in the talks.

Budka emphasized that KO “is always ready for consultations, but in the circle of the democratic opposition”, and PiS’s invitation to the table was “an abuse of trust on the part of Szymon Hołownia”.
