Poland is still waiting for the approval of the National Reconstruction Plan by the European Commission. In a letter to the European Parliament, five factions in the European Parliament demand that the European Commission refrain from approving the Polish plan until all conditions are met. The letter was criticized by MEP Beata Szydło in a Twitter post.

The letter written by the leaders of the groups of the European People’s Party (EPP), Socialists and Democrats, Renew Europe, Greens and Left, she published on her EPP profile.

“The European Commission must refrain from approving the Polish National Reconstruction Plan until all the conditions set out in the RRF Regulation (the Regulation on the Facility for Reconstruction and Immune Improvement) are met. A government that denies the primacy of EU law and violates the rule of law , cannot be considered credible in fulfilling its obligations, the EPL wrote on Twitter.

“A clear signal from the large majority in the EP: judicial independence is not for sale. The rule of law is the backbone of our Union and should be protected before the funds for Member States are disbursed from the Reconstruction and Resilience Instrument,” MEP Esther de Lange also wrote on Twitter ( EPL).

The Reconstruction Fund is a means of reviving the EU economy after the COVID-19 pandemic, and at the same time responding to the greatest challenges of our time: the climate and digital transformation. To receive support, Member States must present their recovery plans to the European Commission. The Polish National Reconstruction Plan was delivered to Brussels in early May this year.

Although six months have passed since then, our country is still waiting for the green light from the European Commission. Each country will receive the first tranche only after the European Commission approves the national spending plan, which must meet the criteria set out in EU law.

Beata Szydło comments

The letter was criticized by former PiS MEP Beata Szydło. “Five factions present in the EP demand in a letter to the European Commission that the Polish KPO be blocked. They do not like the fact that Poland wants to shape its legal system and justice. Such threats in a situation when Poland defends the EU border have a particularly absurd and gloomy dimension. “- pointed out Szydło.

We talk regularly and appeal to the European Commission to complete the KPO approval process, said Grzegorz Puda, the 24th Minister of Funds and Regional Policy on Tuesday in Polish Radio. He assessed that also in the context of the situation at the border, he saw an opportunity to quickly close the case.

Asked about the prospects of accepting the Polish KPO by the Commission, the minister declared that Poland, as a member of the EU, is doing everything possible to take advantage of the possibilities given to it under the concluded agreements. He indicated KPO, i.e. a financial plan, which was to provide the member states with quick cash as one of these possibilities.
