Polish and allied aircraft are taking part in an air operation over southeastern Poland. They were scrambled in connection with the activity of Russian long-range aviation and strikes in western Ukraine – the Operational Command of the Armed Forces Branches warned.
On Monday morning, Russian forces launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. The country's western regions are also under threat. The Ukrainian Air Force has warned that missiles are flying toward cities such as Lutsk and Ivano-Frankivsk.
In connection with the attack, Polish and allied fighter jets were scrambled, as reported in a morning report by the Operational Command of the Armed Forces Branches.
“Attention, in the south-eastern part of the country there may be an increased noise level related to the commencement of operations of Polish and allied aircraft in our airspace,” the command said in a post on platform X.
“Since early morning hours, intensive activity of long-range aviation of the Russian Federation has been observed, associated with strikes carried out on objects located, among others, in the western territory of Ukraine. The last such increased activity of Russian aviation, during which strikes occurred on the territory of western Ukraine, was recorded on July 8,” we read in the statement.
