– Unfooted situations can always happen – said Dr. Sławosz Uznański -Wiśniewski in TVN24 “Facts after Facts”. The astronaut spoke about the last preparations before the flight to the International Space Station and the importance of his mission for Poland.

On June 9, the start of the Axiom-4 mission is planned, in which the Polish astronaut dr Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski will participate. He is currently on the obligatory quarantine in Florida. As he said in the “Facts after Facts” program on TVN24, it is not only carried out by crew members, but also the accompanying staff.

– Today we live in a house in Florida with a crew and at the same time with all service, which prepares us meals, physical training, helps in media service and so on. There are several dozen people locked up in quarantine with us – he explained.

The astronaut added that quarantine is not an opportunity to rest before the flight. The crew gets up in the morning, performs physical trainings, undergoes recent training and certifications, and conducts simulations of various emergency situations that can occur during a flight or at an international space station.

– There may always be situations that have not been provided or occur for the first time. Therefore, we must have full, complete knowledge to be able to cope and take care of our own security – he explained on TVN24.

Uznański-Wiśniewski would like to conduct a “lesson from orbit”

Uznański-Wiśniewski said that the ISS mission is also important from the perspective of the whole country. International cooperation plays a key role here.

– We have the opportunity to cooperate international with the United States, with India, at the European Space Agency, in NASA he explained. – All these possibilities give us recognition and place in this group of developed, visible countries around the world. And I think that the Polish mission will push us much more strongly with this high international recognition – he assessed.

The Polish astronaut also emphasized the role of a mission in inspiring the young generation – engineers, scientists and other specialists in exact sciences.

– I've spent my whole life in science and I hope that I will be able to conduct such a nationwide physics lesson in orbit. If there were such a possibility that every school could participate in such a lesson, it would be a huge pride for me – he pointed out.
