Polish-Belarusian border. Bobrowniki and Koroszczyn – waiting time for clearance, queues of trucks

Nearly 2,000 trucks are waiting for clearance at the Polish-Belarusian border crossings in Bobrowniki and Koroszczyn. Drivers have to wait 19 to even 35 hours to leave Poland for Belarus, according to information available on government websites.

Due to the migration crisis, on Tuesday, November 9 at At 7 am, the border crossing in Kuźnica is closed, and travelers are directed to the crossings in Bobrowniki in the Podlaskie Voivodeship or Koroszczynie (Kukuryki) in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. This contributed to the extension of the waiting time for trucks to cross the Polish-Belarusian border.

Bobrowniki and Koroszczyn – waiting time

In Bobrowniki, on Sunday evening, the waiting time for the clearance of trucks was 35 hours, and 930 trucks were waiting in the queue, informed the Podlasie National Tax Administration. The length of the queue – as reported in a press release by the Regional Warning System – was 18 km. For comparison, on Sunday morning drivers waited 47 hours for the check-in.

Due to the long queue, a buffer zone has been in force for over a week on the access road to the Bobrowniki crossing in front of the village of Waliły Stacja.

During the twelve-hour shift, as reported by KAS, 275 trucks were cleared to Belarus.

Bobrowniki is currently the only border crossing point with Belarus in the region that supports road freight traffic. Since the closure of the neighboring crossing in Kuźnica, there is still a queue of trucks in Bobrowniki, and the waiting time does not fall below 20 hours.

In Koroszczyn, truck drivers are currently waiting 19 hours for check-in. – Currently, there are a thousand trucks in the queue to leave Poland. The estimated waiting time is 19 hours – said the spokesman of the Chamber of Tax Administration in Lublin, Michał Deruś, on Sunday evening.

On leaving Poland through the Polish-Belarusian crossing in Koroszczyn, in the last 12 hours, the officers cleared 558 trucks.

At the entrance to Poland on the Belarusian side, officers cleared 400 trucks. – About 400 vehicles are waiting for the Belarusian crossing in Kozłowicze, which means 12 hours of waiting. On the other hand, 100 vehicles are waiting for the entry to Poland directly before the Polish crossing. The average waiting time is 4 hours – said Deruś.

The crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border

By the middle of next year, a steel fence with barbed wire and electronic devices is to be erected on the border with Belarus. The dam, 180 kilometers long and 5.5 meters high, will be built in Podlasie. Along the border, motion sensors as well as day and night cameras will be installed. The Bug River is a natural dam in the Lublin region.
