Polish-Belarusian border. Border Guard: 44 percent of foreigners staying in the centers applied for international protection

The Border Guard informed that 1,490 people are currently staying in guarded centers for foreigners in Poland. A spokeswoman for the Border Guard, Second Lieutenant Anna Michalska, informed that 1,490 people are currently staying in guarded centers for foreigners in Poland. In this group, Iraqi citizens are the most numerous – as many as 735 people and men – 853.

She informed that only 44 percent of the foreigners staying in the centers applied for international protection on the territory of Poland.

As she explained, “all Border Guard centers are guarded, because they are occupied by people who have illegally entered the territory of Poland”. – People who legally enter and apply for international protection are in open centers – she added.

SG: 601 attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border on Friday

The Border Guard also informed that on October 1, 601 attempts to cross it illegally were recorded at the Polish-Belarusian border. Border Guard officers detained 29 migrants.

Among them were: 23 citizens of Iraq, three citizens of Iran, two citizens of Angola and a citizen of Congo, as well as five foreigners for aiding assistance: two citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Syria and a citizen of Moldova.

Since August, the Border Guard has prevented more than 10,000 attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border, and 1,500 people have been detained in the interior of the country and taken to refugee centers. Only in September 7,535 attempts were made to cross the border between our country and Belarus.

SG: over 160 people detained for aiding in illegal border crossing

The Border Guard also reported that its officers detained 164 people suspected of aiding in illegal border crossing from August to the end of September. Arrest was applied against 14.

Most people were detained by the Podlasie Border Guard, which protects the longest section of the border with Belarus. 135 people who most often tried to transport illegal immigrants into the country or to other European Union countries fell into the hands of border guards from Podlasie. The Bug River Border Guard detained four people for aiding aiding.

On the border with Lithuania, 25 people were also detained for helping illegally crossing the border of the European Union. Earlier, in the Baltic countries there was a mass border crossing from Belarus and the transition to the territory of the European Union.

Among the detained, the largest group are citizens of Georgia – 32, second are Ukrainians – 28, third are Polish – 24, fourth are Syrians – 23, fifth is Iraqi – 12, then Tajikistan – 10, Turkey – 7, Romanian – 6, as well as five people each with German and Belarusian citizenship. Moreover, the Border Guard detained individuals from, inter alia, the Czech Republic, Greece and Finland.

The detainees were charged with committing a crime under article 264 par. 3 of the Criminal Code. He says that “whoever arranges for other persons to cross the border of the Republic of Poland contrary to the regulations, shall be subject to the penalty of deprivation of liberty for a term of between 6 months and 8 years”.

A parallel administrative procedure was initiated against all foreigners detained for aiding aiding, and until now legally residing in Poland, in order to issue a decision obliging them to return with the pain of immediate enforceability. Their forced departure to their country of origin is organized within 48 hours, and they are additionally banned from entering Schengen countries for five years.

The Border Guard issued over 700 permits to enter the area covered by the state of emergency

Second lieutenant Michalska also informed that, since the beginning of the declaration of the state of emergency, over 700 permits have been issued to enter the zone subject to restrictions related to the regulation. – In the Podlasie Border Guard Unit, 604 permits have already been issued to enter the zone covered by the state of emergency. However, in the area of ​​the Bug River Border Guard Unit – 111 – she said. Most of the submitted applications were motivated by the need to visit relatives. Michalska assured that the Border Guard carefully analyzes the applications and did not issue consents “automatically”.

State of emergency

From September 2, in the border zone with Belarus – in 183 towns in the province. Podlasie and Lublin regions – a state of emergency is in force. It was introduced for 30 days under the ordinance of President Andrzej Duda, issued at the request of the Council of Ministers. On Thursday evening, September 30, the Seym agreed to extend the state of emergency by 60 days, as proposed by the president.

The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kaminski, said in the Sejm on Thursday that “there are 4,000 Border Guard officers, 2,500 soldiers, several hundred policemen from prevention and counter-terrorist units on the Polish-Belarusian border.”
