The pressure on the Polish-Belarusian border is lower today, but that does not mean that in a week's time there will be no return to record numbers – said Minister of Internal Affairs Tomasz Siemoniak. He announced that the regulation on the buffer zone at the border will “probably” be extended and will remain in force.

Minister of Interior and Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak he spoke in “Rozmowo Piaseckiego” on TVN24 about the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border.

He stated that there is a “confluence of various factors that bring about the fact that the pressure on the border is lower today”. – It certainly worked that compact police units appeared on the border from the beginning of June. The barrier, which was very easy to crack with levers, has been sealed. There is also an electronic barrier. (…) We have to take into account our various actions, including the political ones of President Duda – he said.

– We introduced a buffer zone in June. We are now in the process of consultations on extending this regulation and it will probably remain in force in this form from 13 September – announced the minister.
