There is a state of emergency on the Polish-Belarusian border. The bodies of three people were found in the border zone on the Polish side, and one on the Belarusian side. – Looking through the eyes of empathy, through the eyes of mercy, through the eyes of the heart, the sight is frightening and unacceptable – commented the Dominican Father Maciej Biskup in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. Barbara Labuda, a former opposition activist from the times of the Polish People’s Republic, stated that “if there is a game on the part of Lukashenka, and we assume it is, the Polish government has become involved in it”.

On Monday, the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kaminski, informed about the increase of forces on the Polish-Belarusian border. – We still have to firmly defend our border and the security of our citizens, therefore we are increasing the strength of soldiers’ participation in border protection – he said. The state of emergency is still in force in the areas near the border, which excludes, among others, media activity. Meanwhile, the Border Guard informed about the discovery of the bodies of people who had crossed the border in the border zone. On Monday, Maj. Gen. Tomasz Praga said that the bodies of three migrants were found on the Polish side, and as far as the Polish Border Guard is known, the body of one person – a woman – was found on the Belarusian side.

– For me it is inconceivable from the purely human side that a democratic state does not allow, through the media, to show its citizens what is really happening on this border – said Father Bishop.

He added that war correspondents show accounts “from much more tragic places”. – Why is our government, our authorities afraid of showing citizens what is happening there? he asked.

– Looking with the eyes of empathy, with the eyes of mercy, with the eyes of the heart, the sight is frightening and unacceptable. My humanity does not agree to this – he emphasized.

– We know well about the cynical game of Lukashenka, who has no respect for his own citizens (…), but I have the impression that our government policy is also cynical in some way, because if it were transparent, we could be informed about it what is happening there – he added.

Labuda: This is a terrible cruelty

Barbara Labuda also commented on the situation. – For me it is terrible cruelty, heartlessness to suffer people and build politics on it, because it has been completely used in domestic politics. After all, nothing is solved in this way – she assessed.

– There is no hybrid war. If there is a game on the part of Lukashenka, and we assume that it is, the Polish government has become involved in it – she added.

According to Labuda, “at this point we are dealing with a kind of competition against who is more angry, who is more heartless, more ruthless, who will not succumb”. “People are falling victim to this type of policy, literally,” she added.
