InPost ranks 49th on the list of the largest transport companies in the world in terms of capitalization, according to companiesmarketcap.com rankingand what the journalist Rafał Hirsch noticed on X. Poland the company is valued today at 9.36 billion dollars. This means that it has overtaken the German Lufthansa, which is in 55th place and is currently worth 8.27 billion. dollars.
InPost has overtaken Lufthansa. A year ago, it could not compete with it
Just last year, the companies were in completely different places. Lufthansa was valued at $10.63 billion in 2023. However, in the following months, its value fell by 22%, to $8.27 billion. Last year's result was not a record for Lufthansa, which had higher capitalization in 2017 ($17.39 billion) and 2018 ($10.72 billion) and in 2006 ($12.54 billion) and 2097 ($12.30 billion).
In turn, InPost's value a year ago was “only” $6.90 billion. Lufthansa, counting from 2006 (such data is provided by companiesmarketcap.com), has only been valued lower twice – in 2011 ($5.43 billion) and in 2016 ($6.01 billion). However, 2024 brought InPost a significant increase in value. The company's capitalization increased by as much as 35.55 percent to $9.36 billion.
InPost records significant profit growth. Fantastic results for the group
This capitalization is justified by the company's results for the second quarter of 2024, which InPost recently published. The profit amounted to almost PLN 337 million, almost twice as much as in the first quarter of this year.
InPost's revenues amounted to PLN 2.62 billion (an increase of 23 percent year-on-year). The group's revenues in Poland amounted to PLN 1.58 billion (an increase of 20 percent), and the number of delivered parcels increased by 20 percent to PLN 170.4 million. Adjusted EBITDA amounted to PLN 730.2 million (an increase of 18 percent). Adjusted EBITDA of the entire group reached PLN 887.3 million in the last quarter, which means an increase of 29 percent. Operating profit jumped by 25.4 percent to PLN 483.5 million, and net profit – from PLN 128 to PLN 336.4 million. After the publication of the results, InPost recorded a strong increase on the stock exchange in Amsterdam. On Friday, September 6, the company's shares rose by as much as 13.3 percent.
InPost Group has expanded its parcel locker network in all key markets. At the end of the second quarter of 2024, the company had a total of 40,671 parcel lockers (an increase of 29% year-on-year). In Poland, the company had 23,470 parcel lockers (an increase of 14%), and on foreign markets – 17,201 (an increase of 59%).
