In the opinion of economists, the Polish Order was the topic of discussion in Saturday’s “Fakty po Faktach”. – Absurd chases absurd – this is what an economist from the University of Warsaw, Dr. Małgorzata Starczewska-Krzysztofoszek, said on TVN24. According to Dr. Andrzej Arendarski, president of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, the tax reform “sows confusion and chaos”, and its positive effects are felt only by the ruling camp.
From January 1, new tax regulations, called Polish order. A lot of confusion has arisen around them. Some professional groups reported lower wages at the beginning of the year. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki On Friday, he announced that any person earning up to PLN 12,800 gross per month who “has any doubts whether he will receive a higher salary in this new system” will be able to settle “according to the income obtained in 2021”.
This matter was commented on in “Faktach po Faktach”, an economist from the University of Warsaw, Dr. Małgorzata Starczewska-Krzysztofoszek and Dr. Andrzej Arendarski, President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce.
Arendarski: The Polish Order sows confusion and chaos
– Many economists point out that we have two parallel tax systems. As a common sense person, I do not like this situation very much – commented Dr. Andrzej Arendarski in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24.
Such a solution, he added, “wreaks havoc and chaos.” – People will have problems with declaring in which system they are to be accounted for. Good law should be clear, very sparing in words and understandable to the vast majority of citizens. This construction, which we are talking about, contradicts all these features – he emphasized.
Arendarski, when asked if he saw any positive sides of the Polish Order, said: – There are certainly positives for the ruling camp, because the redistribution of revenues was to reach social groups that are the electorate of Law and Justice or the United Right.
– However, how it was done, and more and more groups report protests that they receive lower salaries, this also destroys this plus – he stressed.
Starczewska-Krzysztofoszek: absurd follows absurdity
Doctor Małgorzata Starczewska-Krzysztofoszek pointed out that Friday’s statement of the prime minister “this is not a regulation yet, it is not an act, an ordinance”.
– What the Prime Minister said has no legal force. If it is legally formalized, we will indeed have two systems. The question is whether it will only apply to 2022, or whether we will introduce such a double system permanently and every year we will check which one is better to settle according to, she wondered.
– Here the absurd follows the absurd. The government is trying to deal with what is reported. But in February we will have more problems, because taxes will start to be paid by entrepreneurs. Then it becomes clear how this system works or not. This is scary, she said.
