WARSAW, Poland — Polish police briefly detained an opposition Polish lawmaker on Tuesday, violating her parliamentary immunity, after she interrupted a marketing campaign speech by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
Critics of Morawiecki’s right-wing authorities denounced the conduct of police, calling it an instance of the deterioration of rule of regulation.
The lawmaker, Kinga Gajewska was utilizing a megaphone to interrupt a speech by Morawiecki in Otwock, a city close to Warsaw.
The broadcaster TVN24 reported that opposition politicians had been holding a rally close to one by Morawiecki.
Gajewska used her megaphone to deal with listeners with details about an alleged visa scandal involving some consular employees who’re reported to have taken bribes in return for giving visas to Africans and Asians.
Poland’s Regulation and Justice ruling celebration has sought to downplay the scandal because it fights for an unprecedented third consecutive time period.
