Filip Marchwiński scored 11 goals for Lech Poznań last season, and also made his debut in the Polish national team. It seemed like the right time to go abroad and realize your potential. Unfortunately, the future showed otherwise.
The Pole disappeared in Italy. “Very strong”
Marchwiński started his adventure with the Italian club from high C – he scored two goals in a sparring against Nice, but then it only got worse. Luca Gotti, Lecce's coach, did not bet on him, and the arrival of a new coach – Marco Giampaolo – did not improve Marchwiński's situation.
This might have been surprising, because Giampaolo had already worked with Polish players years ago and was able to develop them. It seems that Marchwiński's situation will not improve any time soon. The experienced coach has only just spoken out on his case.
“Helgason is much more ready. If I had to choose, I would choose Helgason, with all due respect to Marchwiński” – this is a quote from Giampaolo quoted by Italian journalist Filippo Verri. This statement reached Poland.
“Very strong and eloquent words for Filip Marchwiński from Marco Giampaolo. Helgason played in Iceland a little over three years ago, and a season ago he was loaned from Lecce to the 2nd Bundesliga,” comments Marcin Ziółkowski from FutbolNews.
It is worth adding that Lecce is one of the worst teams in Serie A. After 19 matches played, it is only 18th in the table and is in the relegation zone. It looks like they will be fighting for relegation until the end of the season. Lecce will play its next match on Saturday, January 11. His rival will be Empoli.
