The Gdańsk prosecutor’s office announced on Friday that it had initiated an investigation into the disclosure of photos of Grzegorz Borys’ body on the Internet. The man had been wanted by the services since October 20, when the body of his 6-year-old son was found in his apartment.
“The prosecutor’s office has initiated an investigation into the act under Article 222 § 2 of the Penal Code,” said Grażyna Wawryniuk, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk, on Friday.
This applies to the disclosure by a public official to an unauthorized person of classified information classified as “restricted” or “confidential” or information obtained in connection with the performance of official duties, the disclosure of which may jeopardize a legally protected interest.

Photos of the face and body of 44-year-old Grzegorz Borys were published on Monday on the X platform and on a local news portal. The penalty for disclosing the photos is up to three years in prison.

The photos were probably taken while removing the body from the Lepusz water reservoir in Gdynia. The area was fenced with police tape. Police and Military Police officers worked on site.
The direct cause of Borys’ death was drowning. Cut wounds and two wounds from an air gun shot were found on the deceased’s body.
