The Pope, staying at the Gemelli clinic in Rome after abdominal surgery, has already resumed his work, the Vatican announced on Friday evening. As added in the announcement, Franciszek’s convalescence is progressing properly and his medical parameters are normal.

Press office director the Vatican Matteo Bruni gave news on Friday evening from the medical team that is caring for the pope. “Postoperative recovery is proceeding normally and is normal” – he declared.

“The Holy Father has no fever, the hemodynamic parameters are normal,” added the spokesman and informed that the pope is no longer connected to the drip and is on a liquid diet.

The Vatican spokesman then stressed that Francis is moved by the many messages he receives.


“In a special way, I want to express my thoughts and thanks to the children staying in the hospital, for the cordiality and love he received in their drawings and messages. They, as well as the medical staff, nurses, social workers and spiritual assistants who touch pain every day, soothe his burden, expresses his gratitude for his closeness and prayers,” the Vatican said in a statement.
