A drunk driver drove into the “Bałtyk” stop in Poznań. Nothing happened to anyone. Trams run detours, traffic lights have been damaged.

We received information that the car drove into a tram stop at Bukowska Street in Poznań on Kontakt 24.

– After eight o’clock we received a report that the driver of a passenger car damaged the bus stop at Bukowska Street. As it turned out, both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle were intoxicated, but there are no injured people in the incident, said Commissioner Maciej Święcichowski from the press team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Poznań.

Police operations are still on the scene. The car that pulled into the stop has German license plates.

Serious disruption

The incident caused major traffic disruptions. Trams of lines 3, 6, 15 in the direction of the Jana Nowak-Jeziorański roundabout take detours along Głogowska and Hetmańska streets. Traffic was blocked in both directions for more than an hour.

On the section from the Baltic Sea to the Jana Nowak-Jeziorański roundabout, a “bus for a tram” replacement transport was launched.

Buses do not stop at the “Bałtyk” stop in the direction of Przybyszewskiego Street. For lines 148, 159, 163, 169, 177 a temporary stop has been designated, about 100 meters further, at the height of the Sheraton Hotel.

As a result of the accident, there was a failure of the traffic lights at the above intersection.
