The turbulent fate of a tenement house in Poznań
As previously reported by the Poznań city hall, the tenement house at risk of collapse is private property. In 2022, the city conservator of monuments ordered the building to be secured, but the owner filed an objection to this decision to the Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw. The officials emphasized that until the case was finally resolved, the conservator “had no opportunity to conduct further proceedings.”
“Its owner is responsible for the technical condition of the building. Pursuant to Article 5 of the Act on the Protection and Care of Monuments, he should ensure the conditions for securing and maintaining the building in the best possible condition, carrying out conservation, restoration and construction works, and using monument in a way that ensures permanent preservation of its value,” the city's announcement said.
