The taxi driver was waiting for a customer when a woman ran up to his car, went inside and sprayed tear gas. After a while a man joined her. Together, they stole the taxi driver’s phone and car keys. Suspects are already in the hands of the police.
The incident took place a few days ago, but the police in Poznań informed about it only on Thursday. One of the taxi drivers received an order at night at Galileusza Street in the Kopernika estate in Poznań. He drove there and waited for the client when he was attacked by two people.
They didn’t get far
– First, the woman ran to the car and went inside. She tried to snatch the man’s phone away, spraying tear gas inside. After a while a man joined her. The attacker hit the victim several times over his entire body, and then the perpetrators took his car keys, mobile phone and fled, informs Marta Mróz from the Poznań police.
The police were called to the scene. When the officers were determining the course of the event, they noticed a woman in the area who – as it turned out – might be related to the crime.
– She was immediately arrested and the rest of the police patrols in the service were looking for the second attacker. Two hours later, he was tracked down and arrested in the area of the Old Market Square by policemen from the Criminal Division of the Police Station in Grunwald and officers from the Execution Group – reports Mróz.
They risk a longer term of imprisonment
The police managed to recover the stolen items. The investigators found that the robbery was an attempt to force the taxi driver to return the debt. 28-year-olds have already heard prosecution charges. They were placed under police supervision and forbidden to approach and contact the aggrieved party. They face five years in prison.
