A 500 zloty fine was given to a man who, during the check-in at the Poznań-Ławica airport, joked that he had a bomb in his luggage. The man was not only fined, but also was not allowed on board the plane.

The incident took place on Saturday morning. One of the employees of the Poznań airport informed the border guards about the passenger who, during the check-in before departure to Frankfurt, announced that he had a bomb in his luggage. – Officers of the Special Intervention Team tried to explain the situation. The 59-year-old man stated that he had actually spoken about the artillery shell. In his opinion, it was just a joke and he did not intend to cause confusion – explains Joanna Konieczniak, the press spokesman of the Commander of the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit.

He did not board the plane anymore

Despite these assurances, the Border Guard officers thoroughly checked the luggage. It turned out that the man was actually joking – no dangerous or prohibited items were found inside. For the 59-year-old, the stupid joke had severe consequences. He was fined PLN 500, in addition, he had to postpone his trip to another day, because the captain of the plane did not allow him to board anymore.
