Once every four years, the Malta Lake in Poznań turns into a “dry crater”. It is time to remove the silt and lying on garbage. Every time this popular tank becomes completely empty, questions arise about “finds”. The list of unusual things is already there.
Poznań sports and recreation centers have announced that works related to the denying of the Cybina trough, which flows through the Malta reservoir, i.e. the popular Maltese lake, have already completed. As usual, it is an opportunity to get rid of the garbage that falls on the bottom. In addition to the things that fell into the water accidentally, e.g. during sports, unfortunately there is also no drink packaging.
– We are worried that, unfortunately, some people walking over Malta treat our beautiful lake like a trash. Let us remember that Malta is a tourist, sports and recreational business card of Poznań – said Łukasz Madziołko, director of Poznań sports and recreation centers.

When will they fill the tank?
After cleaning, the time came for the reviews of the quays, buildings and water equipment. POSiR plans to make all repairs end before the beginning of the second quarter. The next step will be the filling of the tank will take place at the end of the first quarter of 2025, and the length of the process will largely depend on the rainfall, the amount of snowmelt and the level of the Cybine.
It is estimated that in Malta there are about two million cubic meters of water.
