– The police prevented a fight in which hooligans of Lech Poznań and ŁKS Łódź were supposed to take part against hooligans of Legia Warszawa and Zagłębie Sosnowiec. They wanted to try their hand at fist fighting in the fields near Gniezno, said the superintendent. Maciej Święcichowski from the press office of the Greater Poland Police. The “meeting” was planned before Sunday's match between Lech and Legia.

Thanks to cooperation with individual district headquarters, the police monitored the hooligans' route on an ongoing basis. It is known that “the main group of people arrived in Poznań by special trains”, but some of the men were to arrive in private cars. – The group of hooligans finally stopped near Gniezno near the S5 road. Then the police arrived on site and identified 72 people. No dangerous items were found with them, stressed Święcichowski and noted that the meeting with the police effectively discouraged the hooligans from confrontation, because ultimately no incidents occurred.

After identifying all the people, the officers escorted them to the stadium.
