Poznań. There is an investigation into a tenement house fire. What will the prosecutor's office do?

Two firefighters died in a fire in Poznań's Jeżyce district. The prosecutor's office has just announced the initiation of an investigation to clarify the circumstances of this tragic event. It is also known that autopsies on the deceased rescuers are to be performed today.

The District Prosecutor's Office Poznań – Grunwald will investigate the circumstances of the tragic fire in a four-storey tenement house at Kraszewskiego Street in Poznań. The investigation will be conducted under Article 163 § 1 item 1 and § 3 k, which concerns bringing about an event of great dimensions that threatens the life or health of many people.

– Initial findings indicate that a fire broke out in a tenement house at ul. Kraszewskiego 12 in Poznań. The fire brigade was called and the residents of the tenement house were evacuated. During the extinguishing operation, an explosion occurred. Unfortunately, two firefighters participating in it died. As a result of the incident, 11 firefighters and 3 civilians suffered bodily injuries – informed Łukasz Wawrzyniak, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Poznań.

As Wawrzyniak said, during the investigation “procedural activities will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire, as well as to determine its course and the extent of the damage it caused.”

– Obtaining an opinion from the fire service will be crucial in this case. Currently, the first step will be to inspect the tenement house with the participation of an expert. Autopsies will be performed simultaneously today – added Wawrzyniak.
