The firefighters who died in an explosion in a tenement house in Poznań were 34 and 33 years old. One of them left behind two children – informed the deputy minister of internal affairs. In tribute to their deceased colleagues, sirens will be sounded in all fire departments on Sunday afternoon.
During a night fire in a tenement house in the center of Poznań, an explosion occurred. Two firefighters died and several were injured.

The information about the firefighters’ deaths was confirmed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Wiesław Leśniakiewicz.
He expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased firefighters, emphasizing that they were experienced rescuers.
– A 34-year-old colleague with 12 years of experience died. A 33-year-old colleague with 11 years of experience left behind two children. This is a tragedy for all of us. These firefighters gave their lives to try to save others – he said.
The Chief Commander of the State Fire Service, Mariusz Feltynowski, pointed out that “such a situation in which two firefighters died has not happened before fire in Białystok in 2017“. He stressed that the families of firefighters who sacrificed their lives will not be left alone and have been provided with help from psychologists.
Tribute to deceased firefighters
The State Fire Service announced that on Sunday at 6 p.m. all units of the Volunteer and State Fire Service will activate light and sound signals in tribute to the firefighters who died in Poznań.
Police officers will also join the tribute.
