At the conference, after the meeting, the president expressed that HegeSeth came to Warsaw immediately after his meetings at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels and after a visit to American soldiers in Germany.
Duda said that the conversation with HegeSthe was “very long”, especially the closed part, which both politicians had to face.
– I express special satisfaction, primarily because in the coming days we expect a visit to the general here in Warsaw (Keith – ed.) Kellogg, a special envoy of President Donald Trump for Ukraine. It is known that this is one of the most important topics related to the issues of our security today – said the president.
Duda: We support increasing defense expenditure
The president said that he also assured HegeSetha, that Donald Trump's policy in the scope of the European countries increasing defense expenses could count on his support.
– Of course, we will support the policy of President Donald Trump, so that NATO also a decision to increase this minimum defense expenditure threshold – said Duda. This issue – as he said – will also be raised at the June NATO summit in Hague.
– I have no doubt that this will contribute to the actual reconstruction of the security zone in Europe – emphasized Duda.
The president also expressed the satisfaction that at the moment when serious talks on the end of Russian aggression at Ukraine, “people responsible for the security of not only the United States, but also the world” begin, come to Poland, so that on this topic to talk.
Duda: We have an open field for strengthening Polish-American relations
