On Friday, at the Presidential Palace, President Andrzej Duda and his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda met with the winners and finalists of the 18th International Piano Competition. Frederic Chopin.

– My wife and I are very happy to welcome you to the Presidential Palace, in a very special place. Not because it is the Presidential Palace, but because the first concert of Fryderyk Chopin took place here. It was exactly on February 24, 1818, when Fryderyk Chopin was 8 years old. He was not known at all then, little, one of the newspapers misrepresented his name when it informed about this concert, but it was the beginning of his great artistic path – recalled the president.

As he said, “already then many experts appreciated his extraordinary, unprecedented talent”. – It was in this place, probably in this room, so indeed this place, one could say, is also a Chopin palace – pointed out the president.

Addressing the participants of the ceremony, he said: – My wife and I decided that this was the right place to host, first of all, all of you, but most of all young people, our wonderful pianists, and to say here to you: ‘Thank you and congratulations with all our hearts’.

– Thank you for creating such an extraordinary event, the rank and artistic dimension of which were clearly visible yesterday. These storms of endless applause that you have received best show how high the rating was, also from the audience, stressed the president.
