– Regarding my Friday interview, please take into account the convention of this interview. It wasn’t a tense conversation with a politician. It was an interview that we treated partly as a calm, casual conversation on various topics, not necessarily very serious, he said.

– But the topic touched upon by the editors was very serious, and I partly thought about the various discussions I hear in the international arena. When it comes to our position on Russian aggression against Ukraine and how the war must end, it is to restore the primacy of international law, the president emphasized.

The restoration of this primacy, he emphasized, “means the return of Ukraine to its internationally recognized borders, to full control over the territories that are the internationally recognized territories of Ukraine, including Crimea.” – I want to emphasize this strongly because let us remember that Russian aggression against Ukraine, which actually began in 2014, began, among other things, with the occupation of Crimea. And this occupation of Crimea is still ongoing. Russia must leave the occupied territories of Ukraine. Ukraine must regain control over all internationally recognized territories. This should be the end of this war, Duda said.

Duda: Russian imperialism must be stopped and rebuked

– Russia cannot win this war. If he wins, he will attack again. We, Poles, say this with full responsibility, we know what Russian imperialism means, we have experienced it several times over the last centuries. We were under Russian occupation for 123 years, under Russian partition, even in tsarist times. Then we were in the Soviet sphere of influence. We know what Russian imperialism means, he noted.

Russian imperialism, he continued, is being reborn, of which aggression against Ukraine is a manifestation. – Russian imperialism must be stopped and rebuked. He will be disciplined by forcing Russia to withdraw from occupied Ukrainian lands and punishing war criminals. This is a fundamental issue and this is my position on this issue, which I have been presenting everywhere in the international arena since the beginning of the conflict, and absolutely nothing changes in this respect, he said.

The president and his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda are traveling around East African countries. The aim of the visit is to promote Polish business and cooperation in the field of security.

The president’s statement about Crimea

Andrzej Duda was asked in a Friday interview for Channel Zero whether he believed that Ukraine would regain Crimea and Donbassand whether it will be possible to force Russia to do so.

– I think Russia needs to be pushed here. Ukraine must not surrender and the West must not surrender in this clash, because in this way we will recognize the right to the rebirth of Russian imperialism, which we must never recognize, because this imperialism will attack, said the president.

However, one of the interviewers, Robert Mazurek, noted that the president did not answer his question and repeated it: – Do you believe that Ukraine will regain Crimea?

– It’s hard for me to answer this question. I do not know that. I don’t know whether he will regain Crimea, but I believe he will regain Donetsk and Luhansk. Crimea is a special place. I don’t know whether Ukraine will regain Crimea. He is also special for historical reasons. In fact, if we look historically, it was under Russia’s control most of the time, the president said about Ukrainian Crimea.

In an entry on the X platform published on Saturday, Duda stated that his “actions and position on Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine have been and are clear from day one.” “Russia is violating international law, it is an aggressor and an occupier. The Russian attack on Ukraine and the occupation of internationally recognized territories of Ukraine, including Crimea, is a crime,” he noted.
