President Andrzej Duda on Polish-American relations

A meeting with the president took place at the Presidential Palace Andrzej Duda on the occasion of Foreign Service Day. – I would like to thank all of you for your faithful and persistent service to the Republic of Poland, for your great contribution to building Poland’s international potential, for pursuing our interests and creating a positive image of our country abroad, especially recently, in very difficult times – said the president.

In a special way, Duda thanked “all those who were and are involved in activities for the evacuation and release of Poles in connection with the recently heated conflict in the Middle East.”

He also appealed for Polish diplomats “to be active, firm and decisive in defending Polish interests, our place in the international arena, especially in those formats of cooperation where the future of Europe and the region will be decided.”

– The place Poland will take in the coming decades will depend largely on the state of work. In turn, our future position will determine the country’s economic potential, development opportunities and security, he said.

During the speech, the president emphasized that “our main ally in the field of security, especially military, is the United States.”

– Let’s not let ourselves be convinced that it could be someone else. It will not. No one has such potential and no one among our current partners will have it in the foreseeable future. So United States They are an absolutely key partner here, he said.

Duda warned that “it is important that the partnership with the United States is built on the basis of intensively developed political, economic and military cooperation.” – I would like to make it clear that I will not give up on developing this cooperation and in the coming year I will continue to work to strengthen ties with the United States – he announced.

The president emphasized that he “always repeats one thing”, especially in interviews in the United States. – From my point of view, as the president of the Republic of Poland, it does not matter who he is President of the United States. This is the problem of American voters, who they choose. From my point of view, the only important thing is that the President of the Republic of Poland has the best possible relations with the President of the United States and the United States, because it is in Poland’s interest, he said.

He continued that “it doesn’t matter what the president of the United States believes in, what his ideological beliefs are, who he likes, who he doesn’t like.” “It doesn’t matter,” he repeated.

As he added, “Poland’s interest in this aspect is only one: the greatest possible partnership with the United States, the strongest possible position of Poland in relations with the United States, the greatest possible influence in important political institutions and not only in the United States.”

– This is the fundamental goal that should be pursued in this aspect. Who is president is secondary. He will always be welcomed in the Republic of Poland as long as I am president and I hope that for all time, that is, during the terms of office of subsequent presidents of the Republic of Poland, governments that Poles would not choose – concluded the president.
