President of Serbia is going to Moscow for a parade

Serbia and Russia on May 9 will jointly celebrate “Victory Day” over Nazi Germany in World War II – was handed over to the Serbian government. Serbia President Aleksandar Vuczić is going to the official celebration in Moscow.

On May 9, as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in World War II, various types of events will be organized throughout Russia. A traditional military parade in Czerwony Square will take place in Moscow. Soldiers who took part in the fighting on Ukraine.

During the Serbian government meeting, a decision was made to create a working group to prepare a joint celebration together with Russia.

President Serbia Aleksandar Vuczić confirmed on Wednesday that he would go to Moscow for a parade, and on the spot he would meet with Vladimir Putin.

The Serbian president admitted that he would discuss the situation of the Serbian oil industry (NIS) – the largest oil group Serbia, which was covered by American sanctions by the fact that most shares in the company belong to the Russian Gazprom. The entry into force of the restriction has so far been postponed by Washington.

European Unioncommenting on Vaczic's trip to Moscow, she stated that the EU “wants to see a credible partner in Serbia,” which, however, must convince European partners to the credibility of the declared European course. In the response of the Balkan editorial office of Radio Free Europe, a spokesman for the European Commission added that the EU has clearly expressed its position on partners, including candidates such as Serbia.

– Relations with Russia cannot take place according to the principle of “Business AS Usal”, especially in the light of unpredictable and unjustified aggression on Ukraine – said Guillaume Mercier.

The Serbian government does not want to impose sanctions

From the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Serbia received thousands of Ukrainian refugees, condemned Russian aggression several times and sent a humanitarian help to Kiev.

At the same time, the Belgrade government maintains contacts with Russia at the highest level and refuses to join the EU sanctions imposed on this country.
