“Amazing, Poland wakes up!” – PiS MEP Waldemar Buda announced, publishing a photo of two posters on a fence. It shows that on one banner someone “apologizes for the banner” next to the image of Rafał Trzaskowski. Funny? First of all, untrue. The base photo exists and has already intrigued Internet users.
At the finish of the presidential campaign, there is a war for banners across the country. Photographs and films are published on the network, which show damaged electoral posters or captured as someone is just destroying them. What's more interesting, images with such campaign elements become a base for creating fake news. Goal: hit competitors. An example is a photo that Waldemar Buda, the MEP of Law and Justice published on the website X on April 29.
This is a photograph known to many Internet users, hence some were surprised by seeing her version in the post of PiS policy. The photo shows the wall and gate of the property. On the wall hangs a banner with the content: “I apologize for the banner next to” – and the arrow on it indicates the election poster of the Civic Platform candidate hanging on the gate on the gate. “See what is going on in the field! Under the post of MEP, many comments appeared, mainly critical. Internet users pointed out that he was publishing photomontage. Because the photo really raises doubts. It was made at an angle, but Trzaskowski's banner looks like it was photographed from the front. In addition, it is more drunk than the rest of the photographs, and on its surface you can not see any folds or shadows that usually occur on the hanging material.

We checked: hanging. He promotes another candidate and has been circulating on social media for some time. But not everyone believes even in that version. So we explain.

The photograph went to the network at least in the first half of April 2025. The frame, which in his post used MEP Buda, was published on April 13 on the forum Wykop.pl Without information, where is this photography. It shows, however, that the “apology” on the banner on the left concern the banner on the right promoting the confederation candidate Sławomir Mentzen. Another shot of the same place was made more in front of the wall and gate, from a greater distance – in the frame you can see not only the pavement, but also the road in front of the property. This version has become more popular. From April 10 she was circulating among others on Facebook and in website x.

Photos with Banerem Mentzen do not raise such doubts as to authenticity as the version with the KO candidate. The banner with Mentzen looks natural – it is not pierced or unnaturally flat. He was not perfectly stretched to the gate, and on its surface you can see folds and collapse of the material, which suggests that it actually hung there. Since there are two shots of this place and show the same suspended both banners, it can be considered that the situation is authentic.

Some Facebookists, publishing a photo, suggestedthat it comes from Szubin, a city in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. They were right – the photograph shows the fence of the property at the intersection of Sienkiewicza and Dworcowa streets. This is confirmed by the photos Google Street View. The characteristic gray wall with rails and a gate with horizontal sheet metal belts agree.
Both banners actually hung there for help in verifying whether both banners asked the editors of the local portal itvszubin.pl. She confirmed to us that the banners were hanging and sent a current photo from this place (taken on April 30). As explained to us, the already famous combination of banners has been hanging here for about two weeks.
Despite the many comments that he published a photomontage, until the publication of our text, MEP Buda did not delete a Facebook entry.
